Dan Eumurian published his first album in 1981 and
wrote his first anti-smoking song in the late 1980s. The La Crosse,
Wisconsin singer-songwriter, piano dealer and music teacher's fourth
album is devoted to the subject.
"Censored by a Cigarette" is a collection of 16
songs, performed by a total of 11 musicians, and is available on CD and
songbook. In accordance with anti-smoking research, the songs address
adults as well as children. The main target audience, however, is
students from upper elementary through high school. Dr. J. Leslie
Oganowski, health education professor at the University of Wisconsin
-La Crosse, has created lesson plans to go with the title song, as well
as "A New Wrinkle" and "Free as a Bird."
Other songs on the album include "Jingle Bells,
Smoking Smells;" "My Name Is FIem;" "Pop! Goes the Air Sac;" "One More
Cigarette (30 Things to Do with a Dead Camel;" "Inside of Young
Smoker;" "My Body;" "We Three Queens;" "My Sky;" "La Cigaracha;"
"Nicotine Fit," and "When the Camel Is Put Out." "One Hundred Kisses"
was inspired by the true story of a little girl who got her mother to
quit smoking. "My Bro" deals with the issue of smoking-related fire.
The CD is available for $15 postpaid, plus $0.83 sales tax in
Wisconsin. The songbook, including lyrics, melodies, chord symbols, and
reproducible lyrics for classroom use is also available for $15.83
including shipping and tax. The three lesson plans are available for
$3.12 including shipping and tax. Please indicate non-profit status and

Dan is available to present school assembly
programs, workshops and other performances. His fee in the greater La
Crosse area is $350 for a full day, with a travel charge for
out-of-area presentations. Also planned are half-minute and one-minute
Public Service Announcements for radio; and lesson plans for teachers
of music and other subjects.
